About Reve Salon and Spa
A Sylvania native, I began my career after graduating high school in 1981. My dream, or “Reve” in French, came true in 1987. Traveling abroad was a huge inspiration! Places like California, Toronto, Germany and Holland not only expanded my salon and spa service knowledge, but also inspired the interior design of Reve! After getting married in 1989, my Dutch born husband, Hendrik, encouraged me to expand and relocate to our current location in downtown Sylvania. He is the creative mind behind the unique architectural touches throughout Reve, like the curved walls, exposed brick and unique lighting.
My education background is in Jacques Dessange (Paris), which refines classic cuts with the edge of modern styling, and Martin Parsons techniques which ranges from classic to very intricate up styled hair.
I’m passionate about investing in people, local events and charities, women & children, feeding the hungry and public education. “To whom much is given, much is required” – Luke 12:48. There are many people I feel weren’t afforded the simple opportunities that I was – people shouldn’t have to want for simple needs like food. We support local businesses and display local artwork in the salon. Reve donates substantial portions of its revenue to Taste of the Nation, Barefoot at the Beach, Aurora House and many other local charities.
When I’m not at Reve, you can find me at home with my family or walking my 2 dogs, Rock and Leo. I love Sylvania! I started my business at 23 years old and am really committed to raising my family here. The community support makes this a great place to have a business. I love bringing what I learn globally to our community.
Awards for Best Salon and Best Day Spa from The City Paper can be found throughout Reve. We won a design award from Salon Today Magazine for our 3 rd floor design and were recognized as one of the fastest growing salons in the country. The featured skylight was created locally as a representation of the Grand Hyatt in Potsdamer Platz, Berlin.
I am proud of the Reve team of professionals. You can’t teach passion, nor can you teach people to have a heart for customer service. Passion includes a dedication to their career, a commitment to continuous education and improving their skills. All Reve team members have the opportunity to mentor and teach so leadership skills and teamwork are important traits I look for.
The historic Reve building is a beautiful space to explore, but it takes a team of various staff members to create a memorable experience. From our service providers, front desk staff, managers and educators, everyone has an important role. As a company, Reve’s first priority is taking care of our staff members. Happy, well cared for employees will, in turn, be able to accommodate each of our guests with a beautiful and memorable experience. For beauty and relaxation, Reve is a one – stop destination. A bientot! (See you soon!)
